Renault 5 Turbo 2
The Renault 5 Turbo 2 is the legendary, road-going version of the Renault 5 Turbo rally car. It is mid-engined, having a 1397cc turbocharged engine, which develops (as standard) 160bhp. Kits were available to increase this to 180bhp, 210bhp and further.
This car is sometimes confused with the Renault 5 Gordini Turbo - the simple explanation being that "Gordini Turbo" sounds more exotic, whereas the Turbo 2 sounds less exotic than it is.
In the UK, it is often (surprisingly) easier to find a decent Turbo 2 than a decent Gordini Turbo, probably due to the fact that the Turbo 2 is more coveted and is worth more, so tends to be preserved better.
