July's photo is of Andrew's car on Google Street View. My wife was driving, I was sitting in the back. We spotted the Google camera car, and sure enough, there we were on Street View!

Practical Classics Magazine, May 2010 has an article called "Cold Hatches". It focuses on 70s/80s hatchbacks that were pretty bog-standard. Not warm or hot, but definitely cool! Paul Hopkinson's lovely 1974 Renault 5 L features, along with a Mk I Golf and a Peugeot 205. Get down to the newsagent to bag a copy before it's too late!
You can read about the photoshoot for the article on the PC website: Practical Classics Behind the Scenes Blog

We've had a bit of a break from the favourite photo series, so here's April's pick. It's of John Washbush's Kindred Spirit. For the uninitiated, the Free Spirit and Kindred Spirit were kit cars based on the R5. Very little bodywork meant very little weight and great performance. A Kindred Spirit with a Gordini (Atmo) engine would have a power to weight ratio of about 300bhp/tonne!
John has just e-mailed me - his car has now done 17,000 miles and the photo here is fourteen or fifteen years old! He has sent me a recent photo - it now sports Gordini/Alpine Atmo wheels. I'd love to build one of these cars - the kit build instructions are available on the Spirit Owners' Site
